Character Creation

Character Creation

Welcome to Character Creation—your first step in shaping a unique identity within the universe of The INFINITY Project. Whether you're a hardened frontline soldier, a brilliant cyberneticist, or a vessel of impossible forces, every choice you make here sets the course for your future among the stars.

In The INFINITY Project, characters are more than numbers—they are agents of purpose, conflict, and change in a galaxy on the edge. This guide walks you through every major decision needed to bring your character to life.

Character Creation Overview

The process is divided into six core steps:

  1. Choose a Race – What species you are and what that means for your abilities, culture, and biology.
  2. Select a Class – Your primary role, skills, and approach to conflict.
  3. Assign Stats – Representing core attributes like strength, intellect, reflexes, and willpower.
  4. Pick Skills & Subclass Paths – Customize how your character interacts with the world.
  5. Equip Gear & Starting Equipment – Tools, weapons, and modifications suited to your class and origin.
  6. Define Faction, Background, and Motivation – What shaped you, who you serve (or resist), and why you keep going.

Each of these steps shapes your mechanical abilities and your place in the narrative. Whether you're hunting ancient relics, fighting for freedom, or just trying to survive, The INFINITY Project gives you the freedom to build a character that’s both powerful and personal.

Step 1: Choose a Race

Your race (or species) defines your biological origin and influences both roleplay and mechanics. Each race brings unique strengths, weaknesses, cultural history, and sometimes access to exclusive traits or abilities.

Examples of what a race might affect:

A full list of playable races can be found in the Races of the INFINITY Project section.
(e.g., Human, Virellian, Drossi, Synthborn, etc.)

Step 2: Select a Class

Your class determines your role in missions, combat, and narrative encounters. It grants access to specific skill trees, abilities, and gear, and shapes how you contribute to the team or operate solo.

Vanguard Skill Trees

Combatants, commanders, and hardened survivors.
Vanguards are born for the frontlines. They specialize in durability, direct conflict, and leadership under fire. Whether serving as shock troopers or defensive anchors, they thrive in the heart of chaos.

Play a Vanguard if you want to:

Engineer

Technologists, inventors, and tactical problem-solvers.
Engineers reshape the battlefield with tools, devices, and mechanical ingenuity. From drones and turrets to hacking systems and sabotaging enemy tech, they turn knowledge into power.

Play an Engineer if you want to:

Channeler

Wielders of forces beyond science—psionics, energy, and the arcane unknown.
Channelers access powers drawn from the fringe of understanding—be it lost alien tech, psychic resonance, or ancient rituals. These abilities allow them to warp perception, unleash raw energy, or fracture reality.

Play a Channeler if you want to:

Step 3: Select Skills & Subclass Path

Each class has its own Skill Tree, allowing you to customize your build. As you gain experience, you’ll unlock powerful abilities, passive upgrades, and new techniques tailored to your role.

At early levels, you will also choose a Subclass Path—a specialization that defines your style. Other paths can be unlocked as well, allowing for even more extensive customization.

Step 4: Equip Gear & Modifications

You’ll receive a starting loadout based on your class and background—this may include weapons, armor, implants, drones, or arcane relics. The INFINITY Project’s gear system supports both realism and personalization, allowing for upgrades and modifications over time.

Step 5: Define Faction, Background, and Motivation

Your character’s past shapes their future. You'll select or create a:

These story elements influence roleplay and can also offer mechanical benefits (such as contacts, starting resources, or secret knowledge). Make sure to communicate with your Game Lead about location within the universe (or if they are using their own worlds) first..

You're Ready

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’re ready to bring your character into the galaxy of The INFINITY Project. Every mission will test your resolve, shape your abilities, and pull you deeper into a web of mystery, politics, and cosmic danger.

Welcome to the edge of the known.
